Sunday Discovery: Female Hackers Help Stop Trafficking
Izzy Johnston is a freelance developer / programmer created this fun app for the iphone – and a billion other things.
She describes herself as “someone who believes firmly that people should be in charge of their own information”. Amen.
She is also one of the kick-ass women who participated last weekend in the Hamptons for the first Hackathon for Humanity.

“Sara Chipps, a cofounder of Girl Develop It, teaches women how to create their own visions on the web. In the Hamptons, she taught everyone how to access GitHub, a software program that allows developers to collaborate with one another.” -Jed Lipinski for Fast Company. Photographs by Rebecca Greenfield. Read the rest and see the slideshow here.
See the platform / game to help women and raise awareness here.

Sponsored by Jumpthru (a very minimalist site. 100% focus on their mission without any scrap metal) founded by Deborah Jackson. Follow her on twitter and read her explanation of the event on Women 2.0.

Thanks for this feature. FYI, Rebecca Greenfield was the photographer for this feature photo slideshow. The journalist’s name is Jed Lipinski.
Hi Jamie, thank you. I have noted the mistake and made the correction. By the way everybody Rebecca Greenfield was a great choice of photographer. I especially like her coming of age story viewable at her website. She was chosen twice for inclusion in American Photographer’s collections of the best of photography (2008 & 2010)
