Here’s a presentation I gave for the EPWN-BCN (European Women’s Network Barcelona) and the University of Barcelona Alumni on March 24, 2011.
Social Media Starts With Content from Chauncey Zalkin on Vimeo.
There’s a lot of talk about social media, lots of people online calling themselves social media experts and all this talk of its processes are scaring people who don’t live and breathe online into thinking they’re missing something vital. Well, they are. But it’s just that they’re missing adding their vitality to the conversation. It’s not a mystery, this social media stuff. It’s intuitive. This presentation came out of my fundamental belief that social media should be a natural extension of yourself or business beliefs. It’s just talking. And listening. And responding. You should plan a strategic approach to social media; you should have something to say and give some thought as to how and when – but you shouldn’t be overly self conscious and mechanical in your approach. We are all sources of content. We are all constantly becoming. We are works in progress. Behind a business are human beings. Show what you learn and learn as you show. That’s the future of business, the future of communication.
